The Prayer:

Revelation 6:9-11: “And when He broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘How long, O Lord, holy and true, wilt Thou refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?’ And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, should be completed also.” (NASB)

Matthew 24:12-14: “And because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.” (NASB)

Prayer: My Father, as we see Your church-age come to a close we need Your holy fire to revive Your love within us – a love which loves the unlovely enough to proclaim Your Gospel without thought of self – a love strong enough to cause us to take up our cross and deny ourselves so the unlovely can see You – not us.

For a time such as this, we need a revival within our hearts in order to give our wants and desires a backseat to Yours. As Your visible fire came upon the disciples in the upper room to visibly show they were now cleansed through Your sacrifice – it turned their earthly body into a place for You to dwell – to turn these earthly vessels into Your earthly temples through the presence of Your Holy Spirit: Oh! What a Gospel we have to give. Equip us, my Father, to give the Gospel message not by the visible fire as the sign, but in both word and deed. For the work is now done. The visible fire only showed – proved: It is finished!

For a time such as this, the unsaved need to see and hear You despite the hindrance of our still fallen flesh. My Father, please don’t let our love – Your love within us to grow cold, although it will cost us everything we value in this world. REVIVE us, oh Mighty One of Israel, for the hour grows late to finish Your work: The proclamation of Your Gospel: The tearing of the veil to Your Holy place showed the way to You has been opened – the making alive to You that which was dead, our spirit.

Yes, You alone are both the Author and Finisher of our faith; we cannot do this without Your power and strength, for as they hated You they will hate us for they cannot allow the light to expose their sin. But can we hate them enough to hide the Gospel from them through our petty self-desires – through our fleshly desires? We must have Your love supernaturally exposed through these earthly vessels – now Your earthly holy temple. Hell is as real as heaven. Oh, my Lord! Don’t let us remain in our apathy, concerned only for what the earthly call success: Bigger barns to store our earthly wealth. Did not Your twelve suffer much – even onto death itself for the sake of the Gospel? Does that not make our love seem so very cold – so very lifeless?

My Father, with all my heart, I pray that Your Holy Spirit will equip us to bring glory to both the Father and the Son through Your Gospel. Being delivered from hell and death, how can we now remain silent? Please don’t let us remain silent – don’t let us remain in apathy; for the hour is late. May we become uncomfortable in our earthly position, for our treasure is heavenly – is within us, not earthly. Can the unlovable see that difference today? Yes Lord, for a time such as this – oh my Lord, revive us now. In Jesus’ name, may His will – Your will be done!
