Matthew 2:1–2: “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him.'” (NASB) The star that shined so brightly in the darkness of night had only one purpose – to point to God the Son for the salvation of mankind.
Since the day I was literally born-again more than thirty-five years ago, as my heart miraculously went from darkness to light, I wanted to be a light for my heavenly Father in the darkness of night – pointing mankind to my Lord and Savior. In my heart I wanted to do nothing else. Within my heart that day I found the following verse of Scripture to be true: Luke 7:40–43: “And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Simon, I have something to say to you.’ And he replied, ‘Say it, Teacher.’ A certain moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him more? Simon answered and said, ‘I suppose the one whom he forgave more.’ And He said to him, ‘You have judged correctly.'” (NASB)
I knew within my heart I was a perfect candidate: 1 Corinthians 1:26–31: “For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, that, just as it is written, ‘LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.'” (NASB)
Do you want to be a star this season and throughout the year? There are many ways to do so, just make sure whatever you do or support points to the Savior. I’ve never regretted my decision to be a star – nor will you.
Many blessings to you and your loved ones,
